Our Boat Lady A

Lady A is a modern narrowboat specially built by Devizes Marina on the Kennet and Avon Canal for public hire, 45 feet long and 7 feet wide.

She is constructed from steel and well ballasted so the boat is very steady in the water giving a most comfortable ride for even the most nervous passengers! There are no waves on the canals and so no need to take you sea sickness tablets!

The front of the boat is the focal point for most passengers, with an open sided foredeck housing a long table and padded bench seats which can accommodate most of the 12 passengers. Blankets are provided or keep the draughts out, even in a summers day, while the front and side canopies can be rolled down for inclement weather. Above the table is an infra red Nano heating panel, while the rest of the boat is fully central heated.

Through the door into the cabin, we have a dinette which seats four around a large table, which is also suitable for laying out a buffet meal or your own picnic.

The central cabin area houses a fully fitted galley for our own use. We are sorry that the cooking facilities may not be used by passengers for obvious Health and safety reasons!

There is also a fully flushing toilet and hand washing facilities with hot and cold running water.

Through our crew quarters you then reach the large outdoor rear deck where the captain steers the boat. A maximum of three passengers at a time are welcome to join the captain to stretch their legs and chat about life on the canals.
