Canalway Cavalcade
Did you visit Little Venice over the Bank Holiday on 7th May? It was of course our annual canal festival in Little Venice, orgainised by the Inland Waterways Association since the 1980s and very popular it is too. On the Thursday afternoon, amidst lots of activity on the land, we were treated to historic steam powered narrowboat President and butty Kildare arriving. By Friday the traditional queue of boats had assembled mid afteroon and one by one they lined up on their new festival moorings for the weekend.
The weather was a little disappointing but it didn’t rain and a bit of wind makes the boat handling a bit more fun in such tight spaces! We had quite a laugh when we accidentally got involved in the historic boat procession on Saturday afternoon – Lady A doesn’t quite qualify!
The highlight of the weekend was the Sunday night illuminated boat procession followed by live music on the island.
Next year why not book Lady A for the evening? Our moorings are ideal to watch the festival especially at night. Here are a few photographs to remind me of the occasion and to whet your appetite. Next year I expect the dates to be the same 4,5,6 May 2013.
